This Easy Peach Dessert Sauce is a fast and easy fresh fruit recipe! A perfect way to use the popular summer stone fruit in a simple sauce for sweets and baked goods.
Peel your peaches. Cut them into thin slices approximately 1/4 inch thick (or cut into chunks if desired). (They will get smaller as they cook, so cut a little larger than you want them in the end).
1 pound peaches
Add your cut peaches and all remaining ingredients to the pot.
½ cup granulated sugar, 1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 1 Tablespoon cornstarch, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, pinch cinnamon, pinch salt
Heat the pot over medium heat on the stove and bring to a simmer, stirring occassionally.
Reduce heat to medium low and continue simmering for approximately 3 minutes. The sauce will thicken.
Remove from the heat. Store in an airtight container and refrigerate. The sauce is best when used within a week.
Notes
If your liquid is too thin, add more cornstarch and continue heating to activate its thickening properties. The amount of liquid your peaches release will determine if you need more cornstarch.
