Fall Cocktail Recipe
While I love classic and simple cocktails, I just love making and serving delicious cocktails that are unique and special. Especially during the holidays, like my Cinnamon Apple Old Fashioned.
This Whiskey Cider Sour is a twist on the classic with warm, fall flavors of cinnamon and apple.
The drink would be perfect for parties, football game day, and Friendsgiving for something fun and different.
Is an old fashioned a Whiskey Sour?
No, they are different cocktails. But they are somewhat similar in that they are simple drinks without heavy flavors or sweetness.
A whiskey sour is made with whiskey, egg white (sometimes), lemon juice, and a little sugar.
An old fashioned is made with whiskey, bitters, and some sugar.
Does Whiskey Sour have alcohol in it?
Yes – it is made with whiskey making this a cocktail.
You can also use bourbon instead of whiskey.
Is whiskey sour sweet?
No, it is not considered a sweet drink.
There is a great balance between the tang and sour of the lemon with a little sweet.
Why does Whiskey Sour have egg?
The egg white will not make your cocktail taste like egg. I was very skeptical the first time I tried a cocktail with egg white.
When you shake the cocktail in the shaker, the egg white breaks up and becomes foamy, adding volume and richness to the drink with some foam on top.
You can absolutely skip the egg if desired and still have a delicious fall cocktail.
Is a whiskey sour strong?
A whiskey sour is stronger than light and fruity drinks, but does not necessarily need to be strong.
Of course, you can make it stronger if desired. But this recipe is a great balance of not sweet and not strong.
Ingredients
This cocktail uses just a few simple ingredients.
Whiskey is the liquor used, but you could also sub it for bourbon if desired.
I love making a cinnamon simple syrup because it adds amazing warmth to the drink. You can also use regular simple syrup if desired.
Other than that, you will need fresh lemon juice, apple cider, and egg whites (if desired).
Instruction Summary
It is very easy to make this fall cocktail. Simply put all of the ingredients into a shaker, shake with ice for 30 seconds, and then strain.

What is the origin of a Whiskey Sour?
The cocktail dates back to the 1860s, but it is believed that British sailors drank something very similar even earlier than that.
Is Whiskey Sour same as amaretto sour?
There are many different “sour” cocktails out there.
They are very similar to each other, with the primary liquor changing (and sometimes the additions as well).
So a whiskey sour and amaretto sour will be made mainly the same way, but with one using whiskey and one using amaretto as the liquor. This slightly changes the taste
This was DELICIOUS!!!!
I have made it as written and used a spiced apple cider and both were delicious.
