These homemade Air Fryer Pita Chips are a great way to make the popular crunchy snack at home!
Use any pita bread with your favorite seasonings and crisp up with an air fryer.

These are the ingredients you need to make air fried pita chips:
- Pita Bread
- Olive Oil
- Garlic Powder
This is the equipment you need for making pita chips:
- Cutting Board
- Basting Brush
- Air Fryer
Coat the top of each piece of pita with the oil.
Sprinkle the salt and garlic across the bread.
Cut in half, then half again, and half again to get 8 pizza shaped pieces.
Place the pieces in a single layer in your air fryer basket.
Air fry, being sure to flip over, and let cool.
Note: If your pita bread has the pocket in the middle, it will likely be easier to separate the top and the bottom to create two sets of 8 per pita resulting in thinner and crisper chips. If left as one piece, the two sides might separate as they cook. The bread will likely also need a little shorter cooking time.
Modifications and Substitutions
Add additional seasonings as desired based on how you are eating the chips. Ideas include using oregano, black pepper, and Parmesan.
You can also cut each chip in half to make 16 smaller chips per pita. The smaller chips get crisper more easily when baking and therefore might need a slightly shorter baking time.
Flipping the chips is key to make sure both sides get crisp!
Let the chips cool for a few minutes as they will continue to crisp up at this stage.
Pita chips are baked or air fried instead of deep fried, so in that sense they are healthier than potato chips.
You can store them in an air tight container for a week. If they last that long!
- 2 pita breads
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Lightly coat each pita bread on the top with the oil.
- Sprinkle the garlic powder and salt across the bread.
- Cut the bread in half, then half again, and halves again like a pizza to get 8 triangles.
- Lay the triangles in a single layer in your air fryer basket.
- Air fry at 350°F for 5 minutes.
- Flip the chips over and air fry for an additional 2-3 minutes at 350°F.
- Let cool before serving. Can be stored in an air tight container up to one week.
